Rams GateLocated north of the San Francisco Bay where Napa and Sonoma counties meet, Ram's Gate Winery and its 28 acres of estate vineyards has long been recognized for its portfolio of “terroir driven” wines, as well as for its architectural beauty. The relaxed, luxurious and open old-barn feel of the property brings to mind the weathered farmsteads of old Carneros.BrandN8 took inspiration from the architecture of the winery and historic associations with Carneros (which means 'rams' in Spanish) to develop the winery identity and package system. The winery logotype features a ram with a Bacchus-like grape leaf laurel, and typography that harkens back to bucolic agriculture and winemaking of the 1900s. The wine package design catches the eye with its uncommon details, from embossed elements of the proprietary illustration to elegant foil treatment of the branding. The objective was to strike a balance between historic and nostalgic while pushing it in a fresh, modern direction.
WindsorWindsor Vineyards is a winery located in Windsor, California. Founded in 1959 in Tiburon, California by winemaker Rodney Strong. Vintage Wine Estates, the current owner of the brand saught to refresh the Windsor Vineyards label design. We worked together to develop a design strategy to reinvigorate the brand image and differentiate 4 wine tiers while maintaining the stature of the brand. Each wine tier was designed as a unique label that defined the specific tire while maintaining the overarching brand look and feel through shared design elements and and printing treatments.BrandN8 looked into the brands history and selected key design elements to revive and reinvent to elevate their appearance and function. The package system features a revised crown & grape cluster motif that communicates the distinguished character of the wine. The layout of the labels expresses an approachable character with subtle decorative elements to reinforce the premium quality of the wine.
